"Still, A Way Without Words"
Randy Beavers is a fine Nashville steeler who is often featured
at steel guitar shows. Most of this album was recorded in 1989,
but it was remastered for the CD in 2003. Two of the tracks are
new for this release.
Randy plays both E9th and C6th on this CD, sometimes doubletracking
his hot steel licks with precise harmonies. He doesn't shy away
from effects, using them tastefully throughout the album.
"Nearness of You" is included twice, once with distortion
effects on the lead steel voice, then again later with full C6th
chords. The title cut, an original tune, swings gently on the C6th
neck. To close the set, Randy includes a brilliant arrangement
of Bach's "Jesu..." for solo pedal steel.
