At first, this track seems almost like elevator music. But listen closely to Jimmy Day’s artistry as the emotion builds. By the end of the tune he has drawn you into his soul. Jimmy was an originator and an absolute master of that “crying” pedal steel sound.
This recording is from his 1962 album Steel and Strings. The album was reissued by Tom Bradshaw as part of his Vintage Classics series (pictured) about 2 decades later.
